What Children Need to Fluorish:
“If a seed is given soil and plenty of water and sun, it doesn’t have to try to unfold. It doesn’t need self-confidence or self-discipline or perseverance. It just unfolds. As a matter of fact, it can’t help unfolding.”
-From the book “Wishcraft, How to Get What You Really Want”.
This is an excerpt sharing how a child’s environment helps them flourish. The author goes into more depth on what this environment should look like, and I thought it was great information, so I figured I would share!
-Treat your kids as they are a unique genius that is loved and respected!
-Tell them they can do anything they want to do when they grow up, and that you will admire and love them no matter what that is.
-Encourage and explore their interests and hobbies. Give them what they need to learn more about it and let them decide if it’s something they want to dig even deeper!
-Allow them to complain when times are tough, and give them sympathy.
-Help bail them out when they’re over their head, without reproach.
-Surround them with people that are truly happy for them when they succeed!
And I’m adding these in based on personal experience, because I believe they are equally important:
-Speak with your kids how you want their inner voice to sound - grace giving and gentle.
-Embrace their natural self, whether they are hard headed or anxious or super chill (too chill). Turn those things that might seem like flaws into something that is their super power, and help them see that!
